Angela Keenan has been selected for the position of Manager, Safety and Injury Prevention.  Her clinical experience and background as a Workers Compensation Board consultant, rehab consultant and kinesiologist will help her lead the Safety & Injury Prevention team. She will replace Don Currie, who is retiring.

Jill Robbins has been named the new President of the Canadian Home Care Association. Jill is the Director of Capital Health Integrated Continuing Care, and has been an active member of the Canadian Home Care Association since 1990.     

Michelle Murray, the co-ordinator of the Skills Centre, has received the Lois Ross Award for Service to Residents. This award is from the Canadian Association of Interns and Residents (CAIR) and honours those allied health professionals who have contributed to the advancement of resident life in Canada. Michelle was nominated by residents at the skill centre who say she has helped them receive the best training experience possible. Numerous times she has gone above and beyond what has been expected by staying late and enabling residents to continue training.

Paula Bond, Vice President, Acute Care, Person-Centred Health, was named a 2013 Progress Woman of Excellence in the category entitled Management and the Professions.  

Thanks to the 200 Capital Health employees who raised is $9,756 through payroll deduction for the Philippines relief effort.

Jennifer Manuel, physiotherapist at the Halifax Infirmary, completed the ING New York City Marathon and obtained a personal best.

Neale Bennet, Director of Organizational Development and Transformation and Sandra Janes, Health Services Director, have agreed to co-lead the strategic area of focus “Building a Culture of Customer Service.” They will spend up to half of their time on this file for the next two years.  Shawn Jolemore from Organizational Development and Transformation will step into the role of co-leading the Leadership Capacity Action Plan with Lorie Campbell from Physician Services.  

Belinda Riles in finance has achieved her Professional Manager certification. This provides, for the first time in the management profession, the identification of individuals from various specialty disciplines who meet an established set of criteria reflecting high standards of professional integrity, work performance and recognition.
