Gas pipeline to affect traffic on Summer Street and Veterans Memorial Lane

Tuesday, August 18, 2015 - 4:58pm

Starting Wednesday, Aug. 17 Heritage Gas and Sackville Trench will start installing natural gas pipeline to the Museum of Natural History. As part of this project, traffic will be delayed on Summer Street until at least Wednesday, Aug. 26, during daytime hours.

Access to all entrances will be maintained, and the QEII shuttle will to continue to run. Street parking on Summer Street, as well as some parking at the pay and display lot at the museum, will be closed for this project.

Following the work on Summer Street, construction will continue onto Veterans Memorial Lane, which will close the lane from Robie Street to Summer Street. Access to Abbie J. Lane, Veterans Memorial Building and all entry points to the health centre will still be accessible by entering Veterans Memorial Lane via Summer Street.

Updates will be provided as the work progresses.

A third phase, date yet to be determined, will close the left lane of Robie St. southbound for a day, meaning people looking to access via Robie will not be able to turn left to enter the parkade area when travelling toward Spring Garden.

There will be signage to direct drivers along a detour, and parking will remain available at the parkade.
