Legislation passes ending registered nurse strike

  • Bill 37, the Essential Health and Community Services Act, passed  at 7:15 a.m. The legal strike of NSGEU Local 97 (registered nurses) has now ended.
  • This means members of Local 97 must  report to work immediately for their regularly scheduled shift to join those currently providing emergency services staffing levels.
  • All student placements  suspended during the legal strike action will resume as of Saturday, April 5. The learning institutions and Department of National Defence have been notified.
