Lifelines: NSGEU Serves Notice of Intention to Strike April 25 - April 18, 2012

  • The NSGEU has provided notice to the Minister of Labour that Local 42 intends to strike at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, April 25.
  • Capital Health and the union remain far apart on the issue of a wage increase. No new talks are planned.
  • Capital Health is continuing to prepare for the impact on care of our patients and clients.
  • The Clinical Operations Committee is meeting daily to assess clinical visits, surgical volumes and inpatient care.
  • Some appointments and surgeries are now being postponed or are not being booked for next week.
  • Patients are being contacted directly by clinics and physician offices if their surgery or appointment needs to be postponed.
  • If a strike occurs, Capital Health will provide emergency services only.
  • Emergency services means Capital Health will focus on situations where life is in danger.
