LIFELINES: Strike planning update, April 17, 2012

Tuesday, April 17, 2012 - 11:53am

Capital Health continues to prepare for a possible strike Wednesday, April 25, by members of NSGEU Local 42.

There are no talks planned between Capital Health and the union.

Today, as we enter the second week of preparations, the District Emergency Operations Centre officially opened to lead and co-ordinate planning and decision-making.

The Clinical Operations Committee has begun meeting daily to assess clinical visits, surgical volumes and inpatient care.

  • It is “business as usual” until Tuesday, April 24, keeping an eye on how patients requiring long stays or distance to travel may be affected.
  • Patients are being contacted directly by clinics and physician offices if their surgery or appointment needs to be postponed.
  • If a strike occurs Wednesday, April 25, Capital Health will provide emergency services only.

Visit Capital Health Strike Planning - Public for answers to questions for your patients and the public.

LifeLines will be updated daily.
