LifeLines: Strike Planning Update - April 18, 2012

Wednesday, April 18, 2012 - 12:00pm

  • Capital Health continues to prepare for a possible strike, which could start as soon as Wednesday, April 25, by members of NSGEU Local 42.
  • We are moving into the second phase of preparation as the possible strike date approaches.
  • There are no talks planned between Capital Health and the union at this time.
  • The Clinical Operations Committee is meeting daily to assess clinical visits, surgical volumes and inpatient care.
  • Some appointments and surgeries are now being postponed or are not being booked for next week.
    • Patients are being contacted directly by clinics and physician offices if their surgery or appointment needs to be postponed.
    • If a strike occurs, Capital Health will provide emergency services only.
    • Emergency services means Capital Health will focus on situations where life is in danger.
