Almost 600 Capital Health employees and physicians were recognized Oct. 22 at the annual long service awards. Employees with 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 years of service received gifts for their long service. Sharon O'Driscoll had the disctinction of being the only employee with 45 years of service in 2013. See the full list of recipients here.

"I can honestly say I've never had a morning where I wake up and complain about going to work," said O'Driscoll, who has been the administrative assistant to six district chiefs of diagnostic imaging. "The job has changed, the department has changed, there has always been something to keep you going and keep it interesting."

O'Driscoll said she has no immediate plans to retire.

The event was hosted by Barbara Hall, vice-president, Person-Centred Health. CEO and president Chris Power brought greetings. Recipients picked up their gifts during a cocktail reception followed by a gala dinner where Alan Harvey, a member of Capital Health's board of directors thanked the honourees. See the photo gallery.

"It’s overwhelming to think of the hours of work that have been put in over the years from all of you here, and I can’t begin to express what your contribution has meant to us," said Harvey. "Though you have given so much of your time contributing to the health of others, you may not have always received the thanks or recognition you deserve. That’s what tonight is all about. You are appreciated; you have made a difference; you have helped make Capital Health what it is today."

Long service awards dinners are held annually at Capital Health.

Along with those recognized at the dinner, another 267 employees and physicians were recognized for 10 years of service and 209 more for 15 years.
