Urgent Message for Members Planning to Retire or Resign Before June 1, 2015

The Province of Nova Scotia released new pension regulations on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 that may make it beneficial for you to postpone your departure to June 1, 2015 or later.

This may be the case if you are in one of the following groups:

  • You are resigning before June 1, 2015 with less than two years of Nova Scotia Health Employees' Pension Plan membership
  • You are retiring effective May 1, 2015 and you are in a common-law type relationship AND you are in one of these situations:
    • Your common-law type relationship has existed for less than two years; or
    • You (or your common law partner) are still legally married to someone else (separated but not divorced).

If you are in one of the above groups, please contact Nova Scotia Health Employees' Pension Plan IMMEDIATELY for information about how postponing your departure to June 1, 2015 may affect you.
