Contact Precautions

Contact Precautions are used for diseases transmitted by contact with the patient or the patient’s environment. MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) and VRE (Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus) are examples of microorganisms that are spread through direct contact or passive transfer via an intermediate object.

Hands can be contaminated by contact with an infected source or their environment. Protect yourself and others from getting infections by using good hand washing habits.

It is important that you clean your hands often and thoroughly using alcohol based hand rub or soap and water.
