Volunteering in Recreation Therapy

Do you have time to share your talents with others? Do you have the time to make a difference in the lives of others?

More people volunteer their time with Recreation Therapy than with any other program in Capital Health.

With over 400 registered volunteers and over 80 different positions, there are many different ways you can volunteer your time and talents to help others.

Come and join us in providing meaningful, worthwhile leisure opportunities for individuals who receive services at Capital Health. Support Recreation Therapy services at Addictions, Prevention & Treatment Services, the Dartmouth General Hospital, and the Queen Elizabeth Health Sciences Centre (includes the Victoria General Site, the Halifax Infirmary Site, the Abbie J. Lane Building, Camp Hill Veterans Memorial Building and the Nova Scotia Rehabilitation Centre Site).

Some of the talents you can share include: playing music, singing, being artistic (painting, photography, sculpture, knitting and drawing), assisting with community outings, playing trivia, movie nights, baking, and making patients feel important through quality one-to-one time.

Recreation Therapy is looking for individuals of all ages and backgrounds to share their time and talents. If you are interested in being a part of this volunteer team, please contact Capital Health Volunteer Services or the Dartmouth General Hospital Auxiliary.
