Organizational Commitment

Nova Scotia Health Authority is committed to provide a safe and healthy work environment for all staff. We ensure the Nova Scotia Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations as well as other relevant federal acts/regulations are implemented as a minimum standard for occupational health and safety. 

Management System

The Department of Safety & Injury Prevention provides a group of programs that form the basis of a Nova Scotia Health Authority Safety Management System for:

  • Contracted groups (housekeeping, security)
  • Employees
  • Physicians
  • Students
  • Volunteers

All of the programs address the need to have a system that deals with:

  • Control
  • Documentation of workplace hazards
  • Identification
  • Investigation
  • Monitoring/assessing
  • Reporting
