Student/Learner Orientation

All students/learners must read the following information and documents before beginning their placement. Students/Learners who will be working directly with patients must also read all the information under the Working Directly with Patients section.

Capital Health is committed to creating a healthy and safe environment in which to work and to provide services. Scented personal products may affect patients, employees and visitors who are sensitive, have asthma or have allergies to chemicals in scented products.

Employees, medical staff, volunteers, patients, visitors and students/learners are to refrain from wearing scented personal products, such as perfume, aftershave lotions, hair spray, shampoo, lotions, deodorant, fabric softener while within Capital Health facilities. 

All Capital Health employees, medical staff, students/learners and volunteers are encouraged to communicate Capital Health’s CH 40-090 Scent Free - Personal Products policy in a cordial and respectful manner to individuals who are using scented products.

Students/learners with known allergic reactions or medical condition related to scented products are asked to notify their preceptor/supervisor and the manager of the area in which they’ve been placed.

Capital Health is dedicated to protecting and improving the health of individuals and communities by providing a smoke free environment. Tobacco use is not permitted in Capital Health facilities or on its grounds, including inside a vehicle parked on Capital Health property.
