Clinical Chemistry

The Division of Clinical Chemistry incorporates laboratories and Point-of-Care testing at 8 sites within NSHA Central Zone. The sites include laboratories located in Cobequid Community Health Centre, Dartmouth General Hospital, Hants Community Hospital, Victoria General Hospital, and the Halifax Infirmary. Point-of-Care testing is available at Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital, and Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital. The Division offers Core lab services: routine chemistry (24 hours at three sites), endocrinology and immunology. Esoteric services are offered at the Victoria General site: toxicology, molecular diagnostics, and water testing.

 

We provide clinical information essential for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease as well as the monitoring of safe water supplies within our communities. We continually improve our service through quality management, monitoring and updating methods, expanding knowledge, orientation and training, sharing ideas and identifying better ways to deliver the service required. We foster mutual respect and teamwork within all of our laboratories and in partnership with other healthcare professionals.
