Frequently Asked Questions

What is the HCH Foundation?

  • It is the fundraising arm of the Hants Community Hospital. It is a non-profit, charitable organization established to work with the Hospital and contribute to the stability of health care for our Community, for future generations. The Foundation raises funds for the Hospital’s equipment purchases and program needs.

Where is the HCH Foundation located?

  • It is located within the Hants Community Hospital on the first floor off the main lobby.

How does the HCH Foundation raise funds over the course of the year?

  • We raise funds through our special events and your donations.

Does the HCH Foundation decide which areas will receive funding?

  • No. Departments within the Hants Community Hospital submit their funding priorities on an annual basis to a committee, which then reviews the priorities and makes recommendations to the Capital Health Administration. The Administration then confirms the capital priorities list and forwards it to the HCH Foundation.

Does the HCH Foundation welcome gifts of all sizes?

  • Yes. Every gift given helps.

Does the HCH Foundation access hospital records in order to contact former patients and staff?

  • No. Privacy legislation restricts the Foundation from having access about patients or staff. Therefore the HCH Foundation relies on the general community to support the Hants Community Hospital.

Does the HCH Foundation sell or trade its donor information?

  • No. All donor information is confidential. It is never sold nor traded.

Why is the HCH Foundation raising money?

  • The Hants Community Hospital is given a set budget to work with each year. This budget does not allow for all the new equipment purchases or programs needed to ensure our community receives current and state-of-the art health care.

How do I support the work of the Hants Community Hospital?

  • There are many ways to help us. Donations of all sizes are gratefully accepted. These may be made by cheque or money order payable to the Hants Community Hospital Foundation, or by credit card. Two other ways to help is either to volunteer for our fund raising activities, or to participate in our special events! Another way to support the work of the Hants Community Hospital is to consider working with one or more of the three Auxiliaries we have in our Community. We have the Lower Vaughan Auxiliary, Upper Vaughan Auxiliary, and Hants Community Hospital Auxiliary who are strong organizations of volunteers who help around the hospital and also raise funds for the Hants Community Hospital’s equipment needs.

How do I reach the Auxiliaries?

  • The contact numbers for the Auxiliaries are as follows:
    • Hants Community Hospital Auxiliary: Sue McNabb 902-798-3968
    • Upper Vaughan Auxiliary: Joanne Smith – 902-798-0673
