Molecular Diagnostics

 

We are proudly ISO 15189 Plus accredited by AC Diagnostics. We are a team of diverse highly skilled professionals, who include pathologists, clinical lab scientists, bioinformaticians, genomic analysts and medical laboratory technologists. The team is constantly working to maintain and expand specialized genetics and genomics testing by following Choosing Wisely recommendations and best practice guidelines to provide improved testing and interpretation access to physicians across the Atlantic provinces.

 

The Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory performs a variety of high complexity testing including polymerase chain reaction (PCR), fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and next generation sequencing (NGS). The laboratory analyzes a variety of different specimen types, including peripheral blood, bone marrow, solid tumors (formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue), cerebrospinal fluid, and fresh or frozen tissue.  Results from testing provides information critical for diagnosis, prognosis, monitoring and treatment of various types of hematological and solid cancers as well as the diagnosis of some inherited diseases.
